Bright lights, big city. |
Here’s another pretty neat flip I made this season. Not so much because of what they sold for, but because of who bought them. Check out the vintage Christmas lights consisting of a string of old “petal” style lights and a classic “Noma" bubble lights. The Noma lights came in the original box, but had two of the seven lights missing. This probably made them a little less attractive to buyers, since I tried selling these same lights last year with no success. Hoping to move them this year, I posted them on eBay in late November to get a head start. My strategy seemed to work. The lights sold for $25 dollars. Interestingly, I shipped them to the world famous "Tavern on the Green" Restaurant in New York City. I thought that was pretty cool. My lights are probably twinkling above the heads of restaurant patrons as they dine and enjoy the Christmas season in the Big Apple.

The biggest sale of all! |
Those are few of my Christmas flips this year. Overall, I had pretty good holiday selling season. I hope you had some nice Christmas flips too. If you did, share a few in the comment section below. More importantly, I hope my blog gave you some ideas and helped you make some sweet flips this year. Here’s wishing you and yours, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

This year has been good to us. Honestly most has been on amazon. I the last 2 days I have sold a total of 10 bags on candy (regular run of the mill $2 bags of candy) I paid $7 for and sold for $160. $160 for 10 bags of candy?! You are brave doing "big" flips. I can't stand the thought of holding big items for a full year
ReplyDeleteGrace-Nice candy flips. Of course, if you didn’t sell them, you could always eat them. Can’t do that with my stuff-ha! Yes, the carousal was a little risky, given it’s size. If the holiday had past and I still hadn’t sold it, I would have probably tried to listed it for my cost just to unload it. Lucky for me, I found a buyer.
DeleteThanks for writing in and sharing your Amazon flips. Merry Christmas!...Dude!
Love your tales of the sale. Are you on Instagram? I do a lot of flipping there. Just starting to feel the garage sale shakes. Merry Christmas!

Chanelle-Ha! I can identify with the “garage sale shakes”. Starting to feel them myself. But only about ten weeks to go until next yard sale season...(groan!)
DeleteI am not on Instagram, but Mrs Dude is. Maybe I’ll look into that.
Thanks for writing in and Merry Christmas to you too.....Dude!
Just wanted to say thanks! I'm a constant thrifter but only a casual flipper. Found your blog...somehow...several months ago and was surprised to read that blow molds go for so much. Recalled that my mother had Mickey and Minnie Mouse blow molds that had been picked up in a curbside garage sale (read: trash) years ago. I dragged them out of her garage, wiped them down, and sold the pair on Craig's List for $100 last month, even though they were far from perfect. Mom really appreciated the unexpected (and needed) $100!
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays!
Jamie- Very cool! ! I love hearing stories like that. That’s the main reason I do this blog. Glad it helped put a little extra money in your mom’s pocket.
DeleteMerry Christmas to your mom, you and your family....Dude!
Purchased a finished needlepoint for $5 at an estate sale, knew it would sell for Christmas, sold for asking price of $85 on Ebay...https://www.ebay.com/itm/302538561553
